We have mentioned before that it is the environmental charity, Hubbub, which supports the community fridge network in the UK. Well, good news, there are now 100 fridges in the network.

Not only has our community fridge exceeded all our expectations for the amount of food we have been able to re-distribute, and the number of people who come regularly to pick something up, it has been a great way for us to widen the network of people engaging with our project. It is clear that many of you love what we are doing.

So you can imagine how interested we were when we heard that Hubbub has - after much consultation - come up with a vision for a fairer, more sustainable UK led by public opinion and supported by businesses. They are calling it their

greenprint. for a better Britain

Hubbub says, "The COVID-19 pandemic has sharpened focus on social responsibility, the need to put people first, and the importance of building resilient communities.

"The public have told us that they want radical change, and policies that might recently have been views as pipe dreams must now be at the heart of this change.

"The real question is: how do we deliver this change?"

Their Greenprint is a manifesto laying out practical and tested policy proposals to respond to the priorities they heard from the British public, businesses and local authorities.

It focuses on five themes which, if adopted, would contribute to a green recovery and reduce inequality in communities across the country.

What's not to like there?

The five themes are

  • Changing the Way We Live

  • Changing the Way We Eat

  • Changing the Way We Travel

  • Changing the Way We Use Space

  • Changing the Way We Dress and Shop

Of course we wanted to get involved and we encourage you to do the same.
