About the Carbon Saving Project

We are working with our local community to reduce food and household waste, help people to develop new skills and lower their carbon footprints and improve the reduce the energy consumption of our own organisation by installing energy efficiency measures to our community owned buildings.

Here’s what we have planned for 2020-2022:

Our Dundee West End Community Fridge helps to reduce food waste by making short-dated, surplus food, from supermarkets and local food businesses, available to the members of the public.

Community Wardrobe

Our Community Wardrobe has the aim of encouraging more people to REUSE, REPAIR & SHARE. Fast Fashion is one of the number one problems driving the climate & ecological crisis and we can all do our bit to cut down - like using second hand clothes! It's cheaper, better for the planet and a really fun challenge.

Our carbon literacy workshops help people to develop new skills and improve their understanding of cliamte change issues.

This year we’ll be taking things digital and running our workshops online so check out our Events page to see what’s coming up.

We plan to further reduce the carbon footrpint of our community owned buildings - St Marks Church and the Greenfield Place community centre - by installing additional wall and floor insulation and expanding our rainwater harvesting system.

Volunteers are vital to the Carbon Saving Project. These community heroes help us to deliver all kinds of activities from teaching sewing skills in our carbon literacy workshops to collecting food for the Community Fridge.

Even during the lockdown there are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer. If you would like to get invovled please get in touch, we would love to hear from you!
