We will establish a Community Fridge to reduce food waste in our community and to help alleviate food poverty in Dundee. We will partner with Hubbub, who have already helped establish a number of community fridges, using their existing template to build a network of local food donors.
We collect reusable clothing and household items thorough our Give Boxes, located in libraries, universities, supermarkets, churches and cafes across Dundee. We work in parternship with Dundee Clothing Project, Togs for Tots, Lifegate Community Cafe, Starter Pack Dundee, and many others to make sure that all the doanted items are passed directly on to people experiencing material poverty.
Additional savings in carbon emissions will be achieved through installation of energy efficiency measures at the Grade A listed St Mark’s Church on Perth Road and the community centre on Greenfield Place. We also plan to install additional Solar PV (funded via a Resource Efficient Scotland SME Loan).
