The Power of Praise Devotional - Friday 3rd November 2017

"The Cross Has The Final Word" by Cody Carnes, live with Kari Jobe.

'The Cross Has The Final Word' is a song that has been ministering to me recently because it reminds us that no matter how broken, how sick, or how hurt we may feel today, we can know that “though sorrow may come in the darkest night, the cross has the final word” - what a life-changing powerful truth!

You can know today that God is stronger,God is higher, and God is greater than any situation or circumstance you may find yourself in.

“Therefore God exalted him [Jesus] to the highest place, and gave him the name above all names” - Philippians 2:9

In an age where we constantly crave new things, there’s such power and victory in daily preaching to ourselves the old gospel truth; that Jesus paid for all our sins and mistakes, all our shame and suffering and in return we get freedom and forgiveness and eternal life.

Today, remember that in every situation THE CROSS HAS THE FINAL WORD.

The Power of Praise Devotional - Thursday 2nd November 2017

"Fullness" (Acoustic) by Elevation Worship

Be kind to yourself, make praise a good habit.

I'm not one of those people who normally feels like eating breakfast, but I make myself eat it anyway. I know it's good for me. I know from plenty of experience that it's no use trying to accomplish much of anything while running on empty. Better to operate from fullness.

Similarly, Fullness by Elevation Worship has been my go-to 'breakfast of praise' for those mornings when I catch myself attempting to launch straight into the day's business independent of the Holy Spirit. Reluctant breakfast eater that I am, I remind myself to take pause, engage with the Lord, especially when it feels like other matters are so pressing that praise can wait.

Today, take a moment to intentionally connect with your heavenly Father through praise, schedule it in if you must. As this song plays, invite the Holy Spirit to fill you up to overflowing with everything needed for today. Sing your prayer, OUT LOUD, ask Him to fill your home with His glorious presence…and then do it all again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, until praise becomes a habit that you know from experience that you can't thrive without. Like that breakfast you didn't feel like eating, make praise a non-negotiable.
