I don’t know about you, but waiting is not something I have a lot of patience for. In a world of instant updates, 24/7 connection and next day delivery it’s easy to become accustomed to such a fast paced lifestyle. But generally this is not how God works. We have to learn to trust in his plans for us, and to wait on his perfect timing.
The song “Take Courage” by Bethel has really been speaking to me about this:
“Take courage my heart, stay steadfast my soul. He’s in the waiting, He’s in the waiting.”
Throughout the Bible we see people waiting for God - Joseph waited to see his dreams fulfilled, Abraham waited for a son, David waited to become king. While we can’t know exactly what God has planned for our future, we can take encouragement from these stories knowing that, at the right time, He will move.
Psalm 37:7 says,
“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.”
Today, take some time and talk to God about what you are waiting for. Have faith that he has the best plan for your life!
